Malaysia Income Tax e-Filing Guide

So, how to file income tax? Taxpayers can start submitting their income tax return forms through the e-Filing system starting from March 1 of every year, unless otherwise announced by LHDN. This method of e-filing is becoming popular among taxpayers for its simplicity and user-friendliness.

Unlike the traditional income tax filing, where you have to print out the income tax form and fill it in manually, the e-Filing income tax form calculates your income tax for you automatically. So, questions like “how to calculate my income tax” will not be stopping you from getting your income tax returns.

Filing your tax through e-Filing also gives you more time to file your taxes, as opposed to the traditional method of filing, where the deadline is usually on April 30.

If this is your first time filing your tax through e-Filing, don’t worry, we’ve got your back with this handy guide on e-Filing.

5 fabulous natural places to visit in East Malaysia

Much of East Malaysia on the island of Borneo was once covered by natural vegetation like lowland rainforest, montane forests at high altitudes, and mangroves along the coasts. Many natural areas still remain today, and most are reasonably accessible, but in some cases do require long road or river journeys.

Here are five fabulous natural places to put on your list of East Malaysian travel destinations.

1. Bako National Park, Sarawak

One of Sarawak’s smallest national parks (just 2,727ha) punches way above its weight class in terms of wildlife. Located 37km from the Sarawak capital of Kuching, Bako supports stands of most plant communities found in the state with mixed dipterocarp forest, mangrove forest (where it’s possible to see Proboscis Monkeys), grasslands, peat swamp forest, and a very unusual kerangas, or heath forest, where pitcher plants thrive in the nutrient-depleted soil.

There are a dozen trails to walk, from a few hundred metres to several kilometres in length and overnighting in basic park accommodations is an option, though most visitors return to Kuching and stay in hotels such as the Pullman Kuching.

How to Manage Your Time on a Chaotic, Irregular Schedule

Not everyone works 9-5. When you schedule doesn't fit into neat little boxes, it can require some special skills to keep everything in order. Here are some tactics you can use to keep your energy up and maintain a bit of control.

In a past life, I worked as a video producer, writing, shooting, and editing short films. Anyone who's worked in this field for more than a day can tell you that regular hours are not something you keep. Some days you'll work 16 hours straight, other days you'll shoot for three hours in the middle of the night because that's the only time everyone's free. Developing skills to manage a chaotic schedule becomes incredibly important when you can't know when you're working from week to week (and, notably, these skills transfer very well to working multiple jobs and/or retail).

Facts You Need to Know About Your Blood Pressure

Simply put, your blood pressure is the force that the blood makes against the walls of your blood vessels each time your heart pumps. It is important to know what your blood pressure is. This allows you to determine whether it is within the normal range or not, allowing you to spring into action in case it is high. Having high blood pressure puts you at risk of heart attack, stroke and many other health problems.

Measuring your blood pressure on a regular basis is important. Aside from having it done at a doctor’s office, it may also be performed at home. Such is carried out with the help of a blood pressure meter or sphygmomanometer. Aside from something that features a mechanical or mercury manometer, there’s also a wrist blood pressure monitor available these days for easy taking of your blood pressure. However, this device is very sensitive to your body position, potentially causing an inaccurate reading or result.

Easy Ways to Take Care of Your Hair

Designer clothing, perfectly applied makeup, and fine jewelry are all wasted if your hair looks greasy, dull, or messy. Fortunately, no one needs a hair salon or expensive hair products to have hair that looks professionally cared for and styled. With the right techniques for shampooing, drying, and styling your hair, it can be among your most attractive features.

We’ll provide some useful hair-care tips in this article, starting with the basics.

1. Keep it Healthy

  • Don’t tie your hair back too tightly and never when it is wet. This stretches the hair shaft, causing it to break and split.
  • Do eat foods rich in skin and hair enhancing essential fatty acids. By taking care of your diet, the state of your inner health will reflect in the condition of your hair. Be kind to yourself.
  • Don’t over-style. Experts recommend using a blow dryer only for special occasions. At the end of your styling session, switch to cold air. This closes the hair shaft, leaving the hair smooth, glossy and shiny.
  • Don’t forget to keep regular scheduled appointments with your stylist. Making an appointment for a trim every 4 to 6 weeks will leave your hair in tiptop condition

BR1M : For The Better Or Worse?

1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M) programme was first devised by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak in 2012 as part of the Government’s effort to ease the burden of the lower income group in Malaysia. This programme was devised to help the lower income group cushion the high cost of living in Malaysia. BR1M is also part of the Government’s Economic Transformation Programme (ETP) to turn Malaysia into a high income nation.

It was not surprising, though disappointing to hear that BR1M will be continued in Budget 2016, even with 95% of respondents we polled who received BR1M said that the amount is not enough to cover the rising cost of living. So, why does the Government continue to give handouts to the low income group?

Let’s start with why it is actually a good idea.

Is The Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) Good For Malaysia?

So, what exactly is the TPP Agreement? The TPP is a proposed regional regulatory and investment treaty aimed at creating a platform for economic integration across the Asia Pacific region.
The proposed agreement originated in 2005 as the Trans-Pacific Strategic Economic Partnership Agreement (TPSEP or P4), and included just New Zealand, Chile, Singapore and Brunei.
It was the United States’ (US) participation and its subsequent dominant role in the negotiations of the partnership that resulted in the expansion of its membership, as well as having a primary role in its agenda setting.

How does it affect Malaysia?

Malaysia joined the TPP in 2010 and is expected to increase its GDP by 5.6% and also its export by 11.9% by year 2025.
The industries most likely to benefit from the pact are textiles, apparel, commodities and electronics.

Top 10 Skills You Need at Work That Have Nothing to Do with Your Job

Hiring managers make the difficult decision of who the best candidate is for the job based not just on the specific job requirements but also basic “soft skills” every worker should have, like communication and teamwork. Here are the top 10 additional job skills everyone needs.

10. Writing Skills

If you’re not a writer or an editor, you might think your writing ability has nothing to do with your job. Yet 51% of employers say that communication skills (like writing) are a requirement for their employees. Mike Borozdin, a former Microsoft engineer and now senior director of engineering at DocuSign, advises all programmers to sharpen their writing skills. Without being able to communicate clearly or express yourself properly, you probably won’t get ahead at work. Writing is also especially important if you work remotely, since your emails, IMs, and other text-based messages will be your primary form of communication with your boss and co-workers. Improve your writing with these top 10 tips or take a look at this periodic table of figures of speech.

The Deep Politics of God : The CNP, Dominionism, and the Ted Haggard Scandal (Part 2 of 2)

Deep Politics and the Evangelical Establishment

The CNP should concern people, but not necessarily for the reasons that the Left present. Groups like the CNP can draw innocent Christians into the practice of deep politics. Deep politics is a term first coined by Professor Peter Dale Scott. Scott gives the following description of deep politics:
My notion of deep politics… posits that in every culture and society there are facts which tend to be suppressed collectively, because of the social and psychological costs of not doing so. Like all other observers, I too have involuntarily suppressed facts and even memories about the drug traffic that were too provocative to be retained with equanimity. (No pagination)
