Listen to the ground, Putrajaya told

Those masked men among us

Pretentious people with masks are all around us. Can we not see them? Or do we choose not to?

Lately there are so many people masking themselves, pretending to be who they are not.

Did you hear about the lady in Algeria who was sued by her husband because she wasn’t who she pretended to be? The husband thought he had married a beautiful, gorgeous woman but once those inches of foundation and make-up came off, he got a fright looking at what was left of her.

If you remember, there was also a case of a man in China who sued his wife for failing to disclose that she had undergone a series of plastic surgeries prior to marriage. He claimed to have fathered three ‘ugly’ children due to his wife’s ‘cheating’ .

Acts of intimidation and harassment will not go far

Pudu jail site redevelopment to start early next year

Eco World Development Group Bhd is expected to start construction of the RM8.7 billion Bukit Bintang City Centre (BBCC) project by the first quarter of next year.

Chief executive officer Datuk Chang Khim Wah said upon getting the development approval from the Kuala Lumpur City Hall, the company would prepare the pre-marketing for the launch of the project by year-end.

What is your price?

Everyone does indeed have a price and it doesn’t always involve money.

If you are asked to eat a live cockroach in exchange for 2 tickets to watch Manchester United at Old Trafford, all expenses paid – would you do it? How about spending six months in total isolation in return for a luxury condo in Mont Kiara? What about cutting off your thumb for a good sum of money?

Would you do it?

What about killing a puppy? What about approving a faulty bridge? What about granting a project to a lousy contractor? What about voting for a crook? What about supporting a corrupt leader?

The question is what is your price?

Embattled Malaysian PM Najib drops speech to global anti-corruption gathering

Some 2,000 delegates from around the world will gather in Malaysia next week for the world’s top anti-corruption meeting, but they will no longer be hearing from the leader of the host country

The embattled leader has now quietly cancelled his scheduled speech to 2,000 delegates on the opening day of the International Anti-Corruption Conference that his country is hosting

For Najib Razak, the Malaysian prime minister beset by controversyover nearly £450 million paid into his personal bank account, the timing of a global anti-corruption conference in Kuala Lumpur next week could not be more awkward.

The embattled leader has now quietly cancelled his scheduled speech to 2,000 delegates on the opening day of the International Anti-Corruption Conference that his country is hosting.

The summit, which is organised by the Transparency International, the world’s leading anti-corruption organisation, is held every two years in different locations.

By chance, it will open in Kuala Lumpur as Mr Najib’s government is engulfed in allegations of corruption and financial impropriety surrounding 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB), a scandal-plagued state investment fund.

Najib’s the man to cure us of all ills

The commander in chief will not let the Malays become bangsat.

Last Sunday, Malaysians woke up to a beautiful morning, but of course expected the day to be spoiled by more ridiculous statements and incredulous claims from one or more of the Cabinet members. And we were not disappointed.

Speaking at the joint opening of the delegates meetings of the Padang Besar, Kangar, and Arau Umno divisions, the mighty leader of the most democratic, most prosperous, most intelligent, best staffed government in all of South East Asia proclaimed that if Umno fell in the next GE, the Malays would become “bangsat” in their own country.

“Bangsat” is a rich word that can be used as a noun or an adjective. It can translate into “low, mean and dirty” or “felon” or “scoundrel.” Najib probably used it for “outcast” or “destitute” or both.

SKMM sekat laman promo Bersih 4.0

Obama’s “Pivot to Asia”: US Sponsored Mobs Seek to Overthrow Malaysian Government

Malaysia’s “Bersih” movement – an umbrella organization for various opposition groups opposed to the current government of Prime Minister Najib Razak – plans its fourth street demonstration in 8 years to unfold at the end of August.

While Bersih’s alleged goal is “clean and fair elections,” it is openly led by the government’s opposition headed by the now imprisoned US-proxy Anwar Ibrahim and a myriad of US-funded and directed nongovernmental organizations (NGOs). The US State Department, through its US National Endowment for Democracy (NED) and its subsidiary the National Democratic Institute (NDI), the Open Society Institute (OSI) among others, have funded both Bersih directly, and many of the NGOs that constitute Bersih’s core leadership.

Several NGOs currenlty openly funded by the US NED - i.e. Islamic Renaissance Front and Lawyers for Liberty - can be found also listed on Bersih’s current “endorsees” list.

Despite years of immense US-funding, Bersih has recently pleaded for donations and now claims they’ve received over a half million Ringgit (over 100,000 USD). More recent reports claim the amount could be as high as 1.2 million Ringgit.

Angered Umno man gets ‘straight to the point’ on 1MDB

Merbok Umno delegate, a former investment banker, says he cannot sleep soundly thinking of the failed business model of 1MDB.

Getting straight to the point and condemning 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) as a failed business model, a Merbok Umno delegate has questioned how the company could have allowed itself to drown in RM42 billion of debts.

Taking to the microphone calmly enough at his division’s annual meeting recently, the delegate said he wanted to get “straight to the point,” before criticising the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) then raising his voice a notch when he started on the subject of 1MBD.

The fashion police at mosques

Shouldn’t those who pick on the attire of others be focused on their religious obligations instead of being the fashion police?

A few months ago, my son showed up for Friday prayers at a mosque in Kuala Lumpur in a t-shirt with the word ‘Carlsberg’ written on it. An elderly gentleman took him aside to ‘advise” him on his attire. The size of the word on his tee was really tiny but in some weird way managed to catch the pakcik’s eyes. My son was careful not to wear anything similar again. He began to avoid wearing any t-shirt with words on them when visiting mosques.

Will Muhyiddin be sacked from Umno on Sept 9?

“Operasi Kedua” likely to see a purge in Umno involving Kedah and Perak as well but sparing Sabah and Johor for now, says political analyst Shahbudin Husin.

The jury was no longer out on whether Umno Deputy President Muhyiddin Yassin will be sacked from the party come September 9 when the Supreme Council meets. The betting now was that not only will he be sacked as a party member, thereby losing his deputy presidency, both Kedah and Perak will get new Umno Liaison Chiefs, according to a political analyst in his latest blog posting. “Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is expected to be the new party chief in Perak, and Mahadzir Khalid, the Education Minister, made Kedah Chief.”

When life gives you lemons

We need someone to show us real strength and dignity

Yesterday morning, as usual, after dropping my son off at school, I went to my favourite mamak place – I needed a boost before starting my journey to Penang for work. The place is nothing fancy like Kayu or Pelita – it is very simple, situated on a pavement and under two enormous trees but has a really pleasant atmosphere.

I looked around, trying to figure out what to have as I was getting sick of tosai and capati for breakfast. My eyes spotted an aunty having roti telur and by the looks of it, she was really enjoying it. It had been quite a while since I had roti telur. I will be hitting my big 4 in a matter of months and am trying to cut down on calories. But the scrumptious looking dish really got me hooked, so I gave up and ordered an extra crispy roti telur.

Siapa pakar sebenar guna ‘pintu belakang’?

A "Vote of No Confidence" is very Islamic

I am a little confused here. Just the other day Harussani the mufti of Perak said that we cannot use intellect and logic when discussing religious issues.

Folks I agree 100% with Harussani. When discussing religion, you really have to leave your intellect and logic behind.

Being a mufti, everything he says has something to do with religion - in one way or another. So here is another set of statements by Harussani. This is taken from FMT.
My comments in blue.

Perak Mufti: It is forbidden to topple the government

August 20, 2015

IPOH : The Mufti of Perak Harussani Zakaria said the act of toppling the government is forbidden because it is not found in Islamic teachings.

Agreed. However changing a criminal gomen or an abusive and repressive gomen through the voting process is incumbent on all Muslims. A Vote of No Confidence is very Islamic because it follows the well laid down legal and administrative process through syura or majority consensus of Parliament. A Vote of No Confidence is a syura or consensus.

10 Currencies That May Follow Tenge in Tumble Triggered by China

On most days, Kazakhstan finds itself in the backwaters of financial markets. Yet, it’s this central Asian nation that has delivered the latest shock to global currency trading.

Thursday’s 22 percent plunge in the tenge after Kazakhstan abandoned control of its exchange rate revealed a sense of urgency among policy makers: they had tried a managed depreciation just a day earlier. The escalation signaled to investors that it has become too costly for developing nations to defend their currencies. Vietnam also devalued the dong, while freely traded currencies such the South African rand and Turkey’s lira extended losses.

Countries with economic ties to China and Russia are exposed

The trigger for the wave of depreciations was China’s decision to weaken the yuan on Aug. 11, leaving countries competing with the world’s second-largest economy in export markets and those selling goods to it at a disadvantage. That added to the woes ofemerging markets already reeling from a looming increase in U.S. interest rates and weakness in oil prices. Some, like the countries of the former Soviet Union, face an additional problem: the ruble’s continued weakness puts them in an unfavorable position in their trade with Russia.

Hey Big Spender!

Najib used both a Visa and a MasterCard on the 2014 holiday splurge

Prime Minister Najib Razak splashed over US$1 million on his credit cards during the month of August in the year following the election, according to information received by Sarawak Report.

The spending took place in Europe while he was on a summer holiday.

For most people to run up such a bill on mere expenses while on holiday would seem astounding, but the Prime Minister has always declined to explain how such conspicuous spending has been funded.

The bills were run up on two cards Najib was using in August 2014, a Visa and a MasterCard from CIMB & Maybank.

Over RM3.5 million was splashed on the Visa and MasterCards in just the one month. Sarawak Report has further details.

Kenapa lambat siasat ‘orang tua misteri’, guling kerajaan? – PAS

Zeti’s fight is our fight too

Her quest for the truth may have been stymied by interested parties, and it is our burden to continue the fight.

Bank Negara Malaysia Governor Zeti Akhtar Abdul Aziz has become something of a hero among Malaysians of late. Following revelations from several prominent bloggers that Zeti may have been one of the key players in a coup to remove the increasingly unpopular Najib Razak, she has become a martyr even as she fends off calls from pro-Najib quarters to resign before her term as governor ends in April next year.

The BNM Governor recently returned to Malaysia from a trip to the US and promptly gave an assessment of our economic outlook, but political observers will perhaps be more curious about Zeti’s claim that the central bank began informal investigations into 1MDB several years ago. In her own words, ““We did informal investigations with them for a few years actually, and we wrote reports and submitted the reports.”

DAP predicts political fund meet will be axed

DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang thinks the national consultative committee on political funding will suffer the fate of the Special Task Force

DAP elder statesman Lim Kit Siang believes that Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak’s National Consultative Committee on Political Funding was nothing but a cynical ploy to buy time for a whole year to continue to avoid and evade the principles of accountability, transparency, integrity and good governance on the twin scandals of the RM42 billion 1MDB loans and RM2.6 billion in Najib’s personal accounts. “Najib has said that there are currently no laws regulating political funding or donations and thus the public can’t pass judgment yet.”

“This is a shocking example of Najib’s warped perceptions of what is right and what is wrong – a Prime Minister who has completely lost his moral authority and compass and ceased to distinguish between right from wrong.”

With a surplus current account, albeit a tad narrow, Malaysia’s reserves are adequate

LATELY, Bank Negara Malaysia’s foreign-reserves position has assumed renewed prominence. Hovering around US$96 billion, the reserves have dipped below the psychological mark of sufficiency of US$100 billion — the first time since September 2010. This dip has raised concerns that any further erosion of the reserves may cause more capital flight, impair the country’s credit rating and, thereby, spark a downward spiral of the economy as in those dark days of the 1997/1998 Asian financial crisis. Such concerns suggest that foreign reserves are relevant after all. But are these worries justified?

With a surplus current account, albeit a tad narrow, Malaysia’s reserves are adequate

Malaysia is an open economy. Our exports and imports constitute 82 per cent and 70 per cent of our gross domestic product (GDP) respectively. Foreign reserves are necessary for three main reasons:

FIRST, foreign reserves avoid trade disruption. Reserves are required to pay foreign exporters largely, in US dollars — the currency of choice in trading contracts;

The Janoskians with Body Paint & Bulges At Teen Choice Awards

Aussie YouTube pranksters The Janoskians made quite an impression on their teen fans at the Teen Choice Awards on Sunday, thanks to a combination of body paint and bulges!

Here were the boys at the TCA pre-show:

Azalina, shit Najib lebih busuk daripada shit Mahathir!

Azalina Othman Said

How To Make Your Office Outfit Evening-Ready

Does your meticulously planned office wardrobe work after hours? Here are our top tips to staying stylish even after you’ve clocked off.

1. Change your shirt

Be prepared for post-work events by keeping a fresh shirt at the office. When you’re heading out, lose your tie and undo a couple of buttons.

2. Add a pocket square

Inject some flair into your conservative suit by tucking a soft-coloured pocket square into your jacket pocket.

3. Roll up your sleeves

For an easy way to achieve a look that’s more casual than corporate, try rolling up your shirt and jacket sleeves.

4. Ignore your phone

Checking emails over drinks or dinner won’t win you any friends. Instead, set your phone to silent and enjoy yourself.

How To Pick The Perfect Manbag

Bottega Veneta Spring 2016
It's one of menswear's great mysteries: where did the manbag comes from? With hindsight it seems that one minute men wouldn't be seen dead carrying anything less macho than a hard-sided briefcase and the next they're all strolling around with a soft leather tote thrown jauntily over one shoulder.

The first example we can dig up was a calves' leather handbag-style option produced by Prada in 1998, but its first moment in the mass media was an unhappy affair. Broadcast in 1999, the Friends episode "The One With Joey's Bag" introduces Joey's manbag, which is mercilessly mocked by Chandler and Ross, even causing him to lose a job when he is mistaken for a salesman.

Montblanc 'Emblem' Cologne

Here at the GQ estate, we're always a bit suspish when brands who do one thing particularly well - say, writing instruments - decide to leverage their rep into a completely different line of products (read: scent).

Montblanc's new 'Emblem' fragrance bucks the trend in some style, with unexpected elements (think violet leaf and cinnamon) all underpinned with just enough refreshing patchouli. The signature jokes write themselves so we won't, but this is a fragrance certainly worth a spritz next time you're in a department store. And the bottle, by the way, is probably one of the most striking we've seen in years.

How To Choose The Right Leather Jacket

Absolute Misdemeanor

If you're in the market to invest, here are the tips, fits and materials you need to know about.

Over the past half-century, the leather jacket has graduated from san item solely worn by guys in biker gangs to one of the most versatile outer-layers a man can own - as at home with your slim jeans on the weekend as it is thrown over your shirt and tie at the bar after work. In short, this is something that you're going to wear a lot when you get it in your wardrobe - so it pays to get it right.

Which leather is right for you?

Here's a quick guide to some of the most common types of leather. And if you're wondering, technically speaking, there is a simple difference between skins and hides - hides are the pelts of large animals, whereas skins come from small animals.
The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) is extremely strict regarding these leathers, so when you buy from a reputable retailer you can be confident that your purchase will conform to the highest standards.

The 5 Best Grooming Tips

Spend enough time at the beauty counter to know a thing or two about looking good.

Tips a guy can repurpose.

1. Do something about those hands

Exercise, physical labour and yes, even 45 hours a week typing at a keyboard, can leave your mitts looking less than shakeable. While we don't recommend you whip an apricot-scented hand cream out on the bus, a little 'rub-down' before bed will go a long way. The great news is that the beauty industry has created new product lines tailored to men, so now you can choose from unscented or even man-scented moisturisers.

Why You Should Use Face Masks

For many men, the idea of a face mask has been a step too far across the bridge of emasculation. They conjure fluffy dressing gown and eating post-break ice-cream from the tub while watching movies where a pompous Hugh Grant – like there’s any other kind – realises that golly, gosh, he does really love the girl after all.

Problem is, dismissing face masks is like turning your back – or should that be head? – on a proven skin improver. What if we told you, you could pretend to be a superhero for 15 minutes twice a week?  While you’re expanding your horizons, you want to step quickly past the bathbomb extravaganza that is Lush and head straight for its masks department or better still just go to lush website. They will last three to five applications but once you’ve opened them – for the love of God – store them in the fridge or your house will smell like a deceased hippy’s sleeping bag.

10 Reasons You’re Not Rich Yet

Being “rich” can mean different things to different people, but I believe it means having the financial freedom to achieve your goals and live the life you want. I am great at giving advice; I am not always so great at taking my own advice (know anyone like that?).

Regardless of our upbringing, education, profession or lifestyle, most of us are not where we want to be financially and our reasons are probably more similar than different. The good news is that it is never too late to become rich if you, like me, are ready to own up to the reasons you’re not and do something about it.

Want to know why you aren’t rich yet? Keep reading.
