LHDN Extends Malaysia Income Tax Filing Deadline By Two Months

The deadline for filing income tax return forms in Malaysia has been extended by two months. According to Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri (LHDN), the move is meant to facilitate the submission of tax returns affected by the national movement control order, which starts today.

Thus, the new deadline for filing your income tax returns in Malaysia via e-Filing is 30 June 2020 for resident individuals who do not carry on a business and 30 August 2020 for resident individuals who carry on a business. You can see the full amended schedule for income tax returns filing on the LHDN website.

Taxpayers are strongly encouraged to make full use of LHDN’s online service, ezHasiL, when it comes to filing their taxes and also making any necessary tax payments.

LHDN also announced that it is closing its all its branches between 18 – 31 March, in line with the restricted movement order made by the government. To help ease tax processes during this time, LHDN has agreed to allow taxpayers to:
  • request for first-time e-Filing PIN through telephone
  • make enquiries through an official feedback form online
  • reset forgotten passwords through registered email or phone number.

The inland revenue board is also still contactable through its online feedback forms, the HASiL Live Chat, and the HASiL Care Line at 03-89111000 locally or +603-89111100 for overseas calls.
