A "Vote of No Confidence" is very Islamic

I am a little confused here. Just the other day Harussani the mufti of Perak said that we cannot use intellect and logic when discussing religious issues.

Folks I agree 100% with Harussani. When discussing religion, you really have to leave your intellect and logic behind.

Being a mufti, everything he says has something to do with religion - in one way or another. So here is another set of statements by Harussani. This is taken from FMT.

Perak Mufti: It is forbidden to topple the government

August 20, 2015

IPOH : The Mufti of Perak Harussani Zakaria said the act of toppling the government is forbidden because it is not found in Islamic teachings.

Agreed. However changing a criminal gomen or an abusive and repressive gomen through the voting process is incumbent on all Muslims. A Vote of No Confidence is very Islamic because it follows the well laid down legal and administrative process through syura or majority consensus of Parliament. A Vote of No Confidence is a syura or consensus.

“It is mandatory for Muslims to advise the government if there are elements of injustice in its administration.
  • Many Muslims who are well qualified to advise the gomen have been arrested, interrogated, removed, fired or transferred from their jobs.
  • The DPM has been fired for giving his advise.
  • Another Minister has been fired for giving his advise.
  • The AG has been fired for giving his advise.
  • The MACC chief is away on a hasty medical leave. (The prepaid bloggers say he has a growth in his back. Others say he has a slipped disc. My best wishes for Tan Sri Abu Kassim's recovery. He is a good man. )
  • Senior Officers from the MACC were transferred, also for giving their advise.
  • Other gomen officers were arrested - all for giving advise to the gomen.
So what does Harrusani have to say about this? What would you do in such a situation, saudara 'Cannot use intellect and logic'?

“And this we have done. We have set up an ulama umarak (leaders or rulers) organisation comprising the Prime Minister, Ministers and the ulama (mufti) which meets every three month.

“During the meeting we will give our views and advice. Whether the views are followed or not, is their (government’s) problem. We tell them (the government) on what should and should not be done,” he told a media conference

“The constitution says Islam is the national religion. They (members of the government) must look after and safeguard the Islamic religion. If they break the oath, it means they are cursed by Allah. -BERNAMA

The question keeps popping up - since this is a meeting between the religious people and well, maybe the not so religious, do you all use your intelligence and logic during these meetings?

Maksud saya, apakah mesyuarat tiga bulan sekali ini berteraskan ajaran agama atau tidak? If yes then sudah tentu korang tidak perlu gunakan akal dan lojik. Because this is what Harrusani said just a few days ago - that you cannot use intellect and logic in religious issues.

The question is how much benefit can you derive from any meeting (for example where religious discussion is involved) that does not use intelligence and logic?
